Make custom action support more cohesive

Having the user manually construct the URL and send to a connection for default usage of custom actions seems a bit obtuse.
Perhaps an API like this to support custom actions?
[Dog remoteFind:@"adopted"]
[dog remoteSave:@"adopt"]
?
